The bus ended up ploughing into a family's front garden in Ryle Street, Bloxwich yesterday at around 11.15am.

The driver of the bus, a man in his 50s, suffered a shoulder injury.

Three passengers, two women and a man, were treated for minor injuries.

And the driver of the car had to be freed.

All five were all taken to Walsall Manor Hospital.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, said they had seen the bus and car collide at a nearby junction.

"The bus has then hit it and made a really loud bang. The car span out of control and the bus swerved and crashed through the wall. That's when I called 999," he said.

Others told how neighbours rushed to the scene to help the victims while waiting for ambulances to arrive. The driver of the car and the bus, along with three passengers on board were taken to hospital.

June Thomas, who lives at the house with her son Wayne, daughter-in-law Nicola and three grandchildren, had been taking out rubbish moments before the bus smashed into her bins.

Ms Thomas, aged 65, said: "I just heard this terrific noise, like nothing I've ever heard before. When I opened the back door I could just see the bus there, exactly where I had just been. It's really upset me.

"It was just a good job the children were at school because this is where they play," she added.

As the bus hurtled through the knee-high brick wall it also veered into Ms Thomas' Peugeot 206, writing it off.

Ms Thomas' son Wayne said it was the eighth time in the last five years that the wall had been knocked down by a vehicle.

He and others now want to start a petition to get barriers installed at the junction to limit drivers' speeds.
