M6 closed in Staffordshire as man threatens to jump

Three lanes were closed on the M6 near Stafford tonight causing long delays and tailbacks, as police responded to reports a man was threatening to jump from a bridge.

The motorway was closed southbound between junctions 13 and 14 just after 8pm.

Motorists stuck in the queues reported a man was threatening to jump off a footbridge.

The section of the motorway was reopened at around 9.30pm as police said the incident had been resolved.
