Walsall schoolgirl hurt in taxi collision

A schoolgirl was taken to hospital after being hit by a taxi in Walsall. She was struck at the junction of Bloxwich Lane and Bentley Lane near Beechdale.

A schoolgirl was taken to hospital after being hit by a taxi in Walsall. She was struck at the junction of Bloxwich Lane and Bentley Lane near Beechdale.

The girl is a pupil at Willenhall E-Act Academy. Believed to be 12, she was involved in the accident just after 3pm yesterday.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene and she was taken to Walsall Manor with minor injuries.

There was a build up of traffic as the girl was treated and taken away in the ambulance.

Paul Millership was in his front garden near to the traffic light junction when the crash happened.

The 38 year-old said: "The girl came off the path and the taxi hit her. There was a bang and I called the ambulance straight away. I just hope she is OK.

"There was quite a build up of traffic, was a busy time when it happened."

Chris Kowalik, spokes-man for West Midlands Ambulance Services, said two ambulances were sent to the scene at 3.03pm.

Police confirmed they were also called to the scene by the ambulance service to the collision involving a 12-year-old and a car.
