A West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson confirmed four crews were dispatched to reports of a crash involving a single vehicle at 5.51pm.

West Midlands Police has confirmed that a man has sadly died following the crash, while seven other people including the driver, a woman, were treated for injuries at the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the woman is believed to have suffered a “medical incident” and was treated by ambulance staff at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Several police vehicles, ambulances and fire engines have attended and a large police presence remains at the supermarket and on nearby Finchfield Hill and Finchfield Road West.

Finchfield Hill has been blocked off as far north as The Spinney by West Midlands Police. Finchfield Road West and Oak Hill have also been closed and police warned that roads are likely to remain closed “for some time”.
