The ongoing action by the National Education Union (NEU) at Wombourne High School and by the GMB union at Doxey Academy in Stafford will run into another week.

The planned strike action at Wombourne by NEU members will take place from Tuesday to Friday (February 3 to 6). The strike follows a dispute between union members and the Invictus Education Trust over "directed time working arrangements".

The GMB confirmed the strike action at Doxey Academy would be continuing, after the union said school bosses had threatened to dismiss the school’s teaching assistants only to re-employ them on worse terms and conditions on term-only contracts.

Meanwhile strike action at six other schools has ended, following a dispute over compulsory redundancies at schools in Lichfield, Tamworth and Birmingham run by the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership.

The NEU has been approached for comment.
