New swimming centre opens to help Staffordshire toddlers to take first steps into learning to swim
A new state-of-the-art swimming centre where youngsters can learn to swim has been opened in Staffordshire.
Turtle Tots swim school franchisee Sam Taker has opened her centre in Dunston, in response to the growing number of pool closures across the country.
Since launching Turtle Tots Staffordshire back in 2023, Sam said she had always dreamed of owning her own pool and giving back to her local community.
The swim centre, which is part of a joint investment venture between Sam and the multi-award-winning franchisor, Turtle Tots, is part of a national initiative designed to emphasise the importance of widening access to swimming pools for all children.

Ms Taker said: “It’s so important for children to learn water safety skills from a young age and I’m absolutely thrilled to finally have my own pool and to be able to offer more swimming places to local families through the new facility.
“Learning to be safe around water prevents the likelihood of drowning and it saves lives.
"For our community, it means we can get more children into the water safely and help them to build confidence in a calm and relaxed setting while having fun at the same time.

Designed with young families in mind, the bespoke swim centre in Dunston Business Village features a 3 x 8 metre warm, hydro temperature pool, with LED sensory lighting, large family-sized changing rooms with high top changing tables, warm showers, GSI dryers, free parking, a café on site and is easily accessible for visitors.
Turtle Tots is the country’s leading baby and toddler swim school and now operates in 58 locations nationwide, allowing Turtle Tots franchisees like Ms Taker to offer more high-quality swimming sessions for infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers, children with special educational needs and also adults.
