Walsall primary school shuts after norovirus outbreak
A Walsall primary school will be closed until next week after an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.
Old Hall School was closed yesterday and will reopen on Tuesday after the site has had a 'deep cleanse'.
A Walsall Council spokeswoman told the Express & Star: "There are confirmed cases of norovirus at Old Hall School in Bentley Lane, Walsall.
"The virus is infectious and as a precautionary measure the school will be temporarily closed whilst it undergoes a deep cleanse. In line with public health advice the school is expected to reopen on Tuesday, December 13.
"Parents are aware of this matter and are advised to check the school website for updates."
Old Hall School describes itself online as an 'inclusive school' that has 'specialist knowledge and skills to meet the needs of pupils aged three to 11 years with a range of special educational needs and disabilities'.
The symptoms of norovirus are distinctive and include suddenly feeling sick, projectile vomiting and diarrhoea.
Despite its unpleasant affects, it typically clears up after a few days and treatment from doctors is usually unnecessary.
