Tributes after teacher Katie Humpage found dead at Bloxwich home

A much-loved Black Country teacher has been found dead at her home in Walsall.

The body of Katie Humpage was discovered at the Bloxwich residence last Tuesday - July 26.

The 32-year-old worked at South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy up until her death and had previously taught at Willenhall E-ACT Academy.

An inquest was opened at the Black Country Coroner's Court in Oldbury yesterday.

The case was adjourned until September 15 for further reports and evidence to be gathered.

Kerry Inscker, principal at South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy, said: "Miss Humpage was an exceptionally talented teacher and leader who was very highly regarded by staff and students. She was passionate about teaching English and was dedicated to her students, she had a hugely positive impact on us all. Katie was a beautiful and elegant young woman, her loss is very deeply felt at SWB Academy."

A fundraising page set up in Miss Humpage's memory has already raised more than £1,000 for Mind - The Mental Health Charity.

People have also used the page to pay tribute to the popular teacher.

Amy Butler posted: "Thank you for everything you did for so many of us. Hope you have now found your peace you will be missed x."

While Claudia Anderson said Miss Humpage helped her through the 'hardest time' in her life.
