Double deck buses, tractors, limos and a camper van – it must be the school prom
[gallery] From double decker buses to camper vans, students from across the Black Country and Staffordshire have been making sure they arrive at their school proms in style.
Pupils have been finding ever more outrageous ways to arrive at their end-of-year parties and make sure they turn plenty of heads. More unusual forms of transport have been rolling up alongside the limousines and stretch Hummers at venues across the region. There was a vintage vibe for Hannah Corfield, who arrived at her school prom in a camper van.
Hannah and friends, of High Arcal School in Sedgley, climbed aboard the retro-style 1960s camper van before partying the night away. They donned a colourful array of dresses to make sure they were looking great on prom night. Meanwhile, Year 11 students from Sir Graham Balfour School in Stafford kept up the vintage feel when they rolled up to prom on a bright red bus.
The double decker special service bus, complete with a retro style advert across the side, transported teenagers to their celebrations at Sandon Hall.
Year 11 pupil Daniel Justice arrived on one of the more unusual forms of transport – he turned up suited and booted on a bright red tractor. American-style proms have been a growing trend in schools across Britain in recent years. They are usually held to celebrate the end of compulsory education for pupils in Year 11 who have just completed their GCSEs and Year 13 pupils who have done their A- levels.
