Dan Tonks, Head Boy at Pool Hayes Arts and Community School, in Willenhall, began the new term on a 'high note' after receiving an offer of a place from Oxford University to read Music.
Dan, who is currently studying for five A levels, will be attending New College at Oxford University in the autumn term.
Headteacher Jim Clarke said: "Dan has worked tremendously hard for this offer. He has an excellent school record and is a very popular student. It is also a tribute to Philip Hickman, Head of Music; Val Paris, Head of Sixth Form and the other dedicated Sixth Form staff who have ably supported Dan in his studies.
"I wish him well. He is a credit to the school and a perfect example of what can be achieved with commitment, a sense of purpose and good old fashioned hard work."
