Joseph Leckie Community Technology College Sixth Form is a vibrant, bustling place.
We are passionate about helping students achieve their full potential in a fun, safe, supportive and progressive environment. We believe that achievement is through partnership and are proud that success at our Sixth Form is extremely high.
As one of the largest Sixth Form centres in the Walsall, students join us from other local schools as well as our own year 11. We have superb 'A' level results – a 95% pass rate for 2010/11 academic year – and Joseph Leckie Sixth Form proves a popular choice with students.
With university places becoming tougher, our excellent UCAS programmes supports students from as soon as they join Year 12 to prepare, apply and gain places at universities. At least 90% of students that applied last year gained a place on their chosen courses at Universities or Further Education Colleges.
Our Sixth Form mission is to strive for excellence in delivering opportunities for education and skills development in Walsall and the wider community, and we embody this through our statement 'Achievement through Partnership – Success through Innovation'.
We aim to provide a positive and vibrant learning environment that encourages students to involve themselves in all aspects of Sixth Form life and to show a commitment to meet all requirements of the course.
Sixth Form students are able to spend their self study time in the newly refurbished sixth form study area which is equipped with personal computers. They are also provided their own common room, kitchen and tuck shop.
As the most senior students in the college, we do encourage and expect Sixth Formers to act responsibly and be ambassadors for the college and local community. Along with their parents/guardians, students are asked to sign a learning contract which sets out certain expectations of their time in the Sixth Form.
We offer A levels in nineteen different subjects and a wide range of vocational subjects at all levels. We are passionate about encouraging Sixth Form students to develop a wide range of life skills during their time at the college and offer a variety of activities to help students achieve this.
Our Young Enterprise team 'Sweet Sensations' went through to regional finals which was held at University of Birmingham where they were awarded the Best Innovation Award. They also represented the college at the Black Country Asian Business Awards where they shared nominations with established business.
We are holding our Into Sixth evening on Thursday 20th October 2011 at 6:00pm where further information will be available about out successful innovative Sixth Form – everyone will be most welcome.
