A village infants school near Stafford hopes to attract more pupils on the back of an Ofsted report which praised its outstanding features and a church school inspection which rated it highly.

All Saints Church of England Infant School in Ranton, which dates back to Victorian times, currently has 30 pupils aged between three and seven-years-old.

Head teacher Gill Reynolds said they hoped to increase that number in September for the new school year following the glowing reports.

The Ofsted inspection carried out in November concluded that the Bourne Avenue school was "a good school".

Lead Ofsted inspector Ken Buxton said the school had some outstanding features.

"Pupils make good progress and do well at the school," he said.

"This is because the level of care and support pupils experience is excellent and they feel valued and known as an individual."

Mrs Reynolds said: "We were very pleased with the outcomes of our latest inspections which bear testament to the hard work and loyalty of our staff, pupils, parents and governors."

The church school inspection carried out three weeks later rated the school "outstanding."

Mrs Reynolds, who has been at the school for five years, said that it was hoped the reports would encourage parents of prospective pupils to consider enrolling their children at All Saints Infants.

Tours of the school can be arranged by calling 01785 282228.

The school's website also has more information.

"As a rural school only taking children up to seven it is difficult to maintain pupil numbers.

"We are hoping that our good ratings will enable us to get enough children to ensure our viability," it states.

The school has eight staff including two teachers and has a nursery.

Mrs Reynolds said that parents could get 15 hours a week free nursery education and had the option to top that up to get full time day care at All Saints.
