Parents and pupils at Huntington Primary School, which is currently split over two sites, were invited to take place in design workshops to help shape its future.
Education bosses are working on a £6.5million plan for the new school which will be built on land at the former Littleton Colliery site, near the junction of Cocksparrow Lane and the A34 Stafford Road.
The land is being given a complete overhaul with a large new housing development being built but the Huntington Village Plan included other aspects such as a new school and a community centre. The school is currently on two sites which are separated by the busy A34 Stafford Road.
Children and parents have to regularly negotiate the main road as well as teachers trying to get from one side of the road to the other. It is thought building work could start as early as next summer.
Representatives from the British Council for School Environments were running a design festival at the school this week.
The sessions aimed to consider the school's identity, learning spaces, communications and IT as well as external spaces and how the school can be more healthy.
