While the date for reopening is not yet known, owners Stonegate Group have been advertising the pub to find a new licensee on its website, describing the Duke of York as a “Beacon Concept Opportunity with Investment Planned”.

Stonegate said the pub was a “well‑established city centre pub in Wolverhampton, operating as a successful wet‑led business with a strong and proven trading history.

It also said it is “ideally located to benefit from local regulars, passing footfall, and shopping trade, the pub also attracts significant custom on match days, drawing in a loyal football‑going crowd.”

It said the pub had retained a traditional interior, with a dedicated games area, open plan trading space, commercial kitchen, small patio and yard and said it represented a “strong wet‑led pub opportunity in the heart of Wolverhampton city centre.”

Stonegate have been contacted for a comment.
