Dudley boy gifts West Midlands attraction quirky miniature sculpture
Dudley boy creates mini pink mammoth
A young boy from Dudley has gifted a West Midlands’ museum and art gallery a miniature version of a life-sized woolly mammoth sculpture that’s on display until early next year.
Inspired by Brummie comedian Joe Lycett’s life-sized pink mammoth that’s currently on display at Birmingham’s Museum and Art Gallery as part of the ‘Everything Must Go’ exhibition.
Alfie O’Connell, aged 10, from Dudley made his own miniature version of the quirky sculpture.

It is understood that staff at the art gallery were happy with Alfie’s creation, and were pleased to see children and young people getting involved with the exhibition.
Joe commented on Instagram that he thought Alfie’s creation was ‘wonderful’.
The pink life-size mammoth called Martin from Hull currently features as part of the ‘Everything Must Go’ exhibition.
The museum’s sculpture was originally made with British wool, that was put together by cast members from The Great British Sewing Bee - a BBC programme that was once hosted by Joe Lycett.
The art installation is available to be viewed at the exhibition until February 21 2027.
When the exhibition opened at the end of July 2026, Joe Lycett said in a statement: “I’m thrilled to finally open the doors to EVERY THING MUST GO. It’s essentially a giant celebration of dead and lost stuff and things that probably shouldn’t have disappeared in the first place.”
