'Cowardly' killer who claimed his partner 'fell down the stairs' gets life sentence for murder with a minimum of 24 years

A violent and controlling bully who falsely claimed his partner had fallen down the stairs to try and conceal the fact he had killed her has been sentenced.

Dale Cole, aged 39, of Grange Street, Burton-on-Trent, has today (March 24) been sentenced at Stafford Crown Court.

He was found guilty last week of the murder of 39-year-old Lisa Holland, following a trial at Stafford Crown Court.

Today Cole has been jailed for life with a minimum of 24 years. 

Cole was also found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent last Friday, and had previously pleaded guilty to controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship.

Ms Holland died at her home on Victoria Crescent, Burton-on-Trent, where she lived with Cole, on October 20, 2022.
