Police issue update after body found in West Midlands canal

Police have issued an update after a body was found in a canal in Wednesfield.

Police were spotted at Lichfield Road and Broad Lane in Wednesfield, Wolverhampton on March 21 after a body was found in the local canal. 

West Midlands Police issued an update today (March, 23) and have said that "The man's death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."

At the time, the police had cordoned off a canal towpath and officers were in the area patrolling the canal banks. 

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said at the weekend: “We were called to reports of a man's body in a canal off Broad Lane, Wednesfield at just after 7am today (Sat).

“Sadly he was confirmed dead at the scene and we are working to identify him and inform next of kin. His death is currently being treated as non-suspicious.”
