Prolific Wolverhampton shoplifter behind bars for six months after £250 worth of items stolen from shops in Bentley Bridge Leisure Park

A repeat offender has been been jailed for almost six months, after he stole £250 worth of items

Luke Dhear, aged 36, was sentenced to a 24-week jail term when he appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Thursday, March 12.

Police shared that Dhear's fixed address is Child’s Avenue, Bilston. 

Dhear was charged with 10 counts of theft, including six thefts from one store in Wednesfield, and was found to be on recall to prison for previous offences. 

Police said two local neighbourhood officers tracked him down after a number of thefts at stores at Wolverhampton's Bentley Bridge.

The two neighbourhood officers were on a regular patrols in the area around the retail park. 

During their neighbourhood patrol, the officers were alerted to a man who was described as acting 'suspiciously'. The man was believed to be taking items from the shelves of one of the shops at Wolverhampton's Bentley Bridge.

West Midlands Police said the two officers from West Midlands Police's Wednesfield and Heath Town team worked with security staff at the retail park and were told the man had headed off towards Rookery Street. 

The Police said that they had searched the area and soon came across a man who matched the description of the suspect and detained him. 

Police were able to recover a large red bag which contained items stolen from at least two of the shops at Bentley Bridge, worth about £250.
