Police investigate a serious assault against a man outside a shop in Sandwell as he remains in hospital

West Midlands Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was seriously assaulted outside a store on Long Lane, Blackheath.

The victim was assaulted and suffered serious injuries on March 6 - between 2pm and 2.30pm. He remains in hospital for treatment. 

As part of our investigation, we have charged a 54-year-old man with grievous bodily harm. He has been remanded in custody to appear at court next month. 

Officers are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incident, to come forward.
