Woman charged with burglary, weapons and drug offences after police called to break-in at Birmingham address

A woman has been charged with multiple offences after police were called to a break-in at a house in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said officers had been called to reports of a burglary at Golden Croft in Handsworth on February 28, with money stolen and a man assaulted, and arrested a woman after an investigation.

The force said that Andrea Powell, aged 41, had been charged with burglary, assault, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of Class A drugs and was remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Thursday.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A woman is appearing at court today after a break-in at an address in Birmingham.

"We were called to reports of a burglary on Golden Croft, Handsworth, on February 28, where money was stolen and a man was assaulted.

"Officers from our Neighbourhood Crime Team in Birmingham carried out an investigation and arrested a woman in connection with the incident.

"Andrea Powell has been charged with burglary, assault, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of Class A drugs.

"The 41-year-old was remanded in custody and is set to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court today."
