Man arrested following police pursuit in Dudley

A man was arrested after leading officers on a pursuit through Dudley and driving on the wrong side of a carriageway.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after officers were led on a chase in Quarry Bank, Dudley.

The arrest comes after West Midlands Police traffic officers were alerted to a car they suspected had been involved in other crimes, driving dangerously on Tuesday, March 10.

After failing to stop, the car was spotted driving at speed on the wrong side of a carriageway. A foot chase ensued, and the suspect was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning. 

The man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, as well as driving with no licence and no insurance.

He has since been bailed while the police investigation continues. 

A force spokesperson said: "The traffic team were alerted to a car they suspected had been involved in other crimes, driving dangerously in Quarry Bank, last night (10 March), which then failed to stop.

"Spotting the car driving at speed and on the wrong side of the carriageways, a foot chase then ensued as the team refused to let the suspect get away. 

"They later arrested a man in the early hours of this morning (11 March).

"A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving with no licence and no insurance."
