Two men charged with firearm offences after gun seized by police in Birmingham

Two men have been charged with offences linked to firearm possession after a police raid recovered a live gun.

West Midlands Police said that Kyo Brooks and Mafias Sterling had been arrested at an address on Brockhurst Road in Hodge Hill on Saturday following a raid by officers which recovered a firearm that, after tests, was found to be live and viable.

Brooks, 23, from Wednesbury, and Sterling, 20, from Birmingham, have both been charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition, with Sterling also charged with criminal damage.

They were set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday. No details are available yet of their appearance.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Two men have been charged after we seized a gun from an address in Hodge Hill.

"Officers carried out a warrant at the property on Brockhurst Road early on Saturday.

"Searches were carried out and a firearm was seized and tested and we were able to confirm that it was live and viable.

"Kyo Brooks, 23, from Wednesbury, has now been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm, and two counts of possession of ammunition.

"Mafias Sterling, 20, from Birmingham, has been charged with one count of possession of a firearm, one count of possession of ammunition, and criminal damage.

"The pair are due before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday."
