Detectives have launched a murder inquiry after a man was found dead at Tamworth Railway Station last night - a woman has been arrested and train services are disrupted
British Transport Police has launched a murder investigation after a 28-year-old man was found dead at Tamworth Railway Station car park in the early hours of Sunday 8 March.
Officers from Staffordshire Police were called to Victoria Road at around 2.20am following reports of a man being found unresponsive.
Paramedics arrived and treated the man for his injuries, but he was confirmed dead at the scene.

A wider search was launched to locate the suspect. A 28-year-old woman was subsequently arrested and remains in custody. A scene guard remains in place while police carry out a forensic examination of the scene.
Due to the location, British Transport Police has now taking primacy of the investigation.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Marvin Bruno said: “Our specialist family liaison officers are providing support to the victim’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this time.
“We are urging anyone with any information or anyone who witnessed events leading up to the man’s death to get in touch with us.”

Disruption to rail travel
As emergency services deal with the investigation trains are unable to stop at Tamworth station.
This is affecting trains serving both the Hihg Level and Low Level platforms - and the station is currently closed.
It is expected that services will resume at 2.30pm.

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on rail replacement services (supplied by Stagecoach) between Nuneaton and Lichfield Trent Valley, in both directions. At Tamworth, these services will pick up / drop off customers at Victoria Road.
If your journey isn't urgent, you might find it more comfortable to wait until the disruption is cleared and a normal service has resumed.

Avanti West Coast customers may also use their tickets at no extra cost on London Northwestern Railway's rail replacement services with Stagecoach between Nuneaton and Lichfield Trent Valley, in either direction.
If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.
If you no longer wish to travel because your train's delayed or cancelled, you can request a full refund from where you bought your ticket.

Rail replacement buses are running between Birmingham New Street and Burton-on-Trent. These will run on the hour each hour in both directions, and will be operated by BritCoaches, First Choice and JKT.
Please note the pick up/drop off location for Birmingham New Street is outside the TK Maxx store and for Tamworth is Stand A on Victoria Road.
