Man charged with murder of Ali Alshmari following stabbing in West Midlands
A man has been charged with murder and attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Alum Rock.
The police named the victim earlier today as 30-year-old, Ali Alshmari.
Police attended the scene at Bridge Road just after midday yesterday (Tuesday) but Mr Alshmari was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later after a 'tragic and violent attack.'
Mahmood Ibrahim, aged 32, of no fixed address, was arrested and has now been charged with murder and attempted murder.

He has been remanded in custody and is due before Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Thursday).
The incident happened close to a school and officers from West Midlands Police (WMP) have met with members of the local community to discuss their concerns and offer them reassurance.
Detective Inspector Michelle Cordell, who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a significant development in our investigation, which is continuing.
“Our thoughts remain with Mr Alshmari’s family as we carry out our enquiries.
“We are grateful to the public for their response following this incident, and we understand the concern it has caused.
“Footage shared with us has been helpful to the investigation, and we are urging anyone who has not yet been in touch to please do so.
“Extra officers remain in the area, and anyone with concerns should speak to them.”
