FazAmnesty visited Walsall on Saturday where they positioned themselves in the town centre. The visit was arranged by West Midlands Police's Problem Solving and Priorities Team and supported by St Matthew’s neighbourhood officers.

Weapons including 10 knives, a samurai sword, an axe, a machete, a dagger and a crossbow were handed in and will now be destroyed.

The group focus on supporting and protecting vulnerable people and work alongside a number of UK police forces. They run mentoring programmes, carry out street patrols and collect weapons to help reduce crime and make neighbourhoods feel safer.

PC Leigh Thompson-Clarke, West Midlands Police's Under 25’s Serious Violence Co-Ordinator at Walsall, said: “We took a number of weapons off our streets including knives, a machete, axe, dagger and a crossbow.

“These weapons have been taken out of circulation, preventing them from falling into the hands of people who wish to cause harm in the community.

“Handing in these weapons to be destroyed potentially saves lives.

“The visit was a great example of partnership working and I would like to thank representatives from FazAmnesty for coming along and supporting our efforts to combat knife crime in our communities.”
