Knuckle duster and lock knife seized and three men charged following Project Guardian patrols
A 17-year-old boy was arrested and three men have been charged with weapons offences after police found a knuckle duster and dangerous knives in searches.
West Midlands Police's Operation Guardian officers charged three men over the weekend as they continue their crackdown on anti-social behaviour and knife crime.
On Friday (February 27) officers conducted a stop and search on Tower Street, Dudley, after spotting suspicious activity taking place in the vicinity.
Officers quickly detained a 17-year-old boy, where they found a knuckle duster. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
On Sunday Project Guardian officers were patrolling on Bosworth Drive, Chelmsley Wood, when they stopped two men and recovered a zombie knife.
Iienin Abjiba, aged 18, from Fordbridge, and Brandon Eliker, aged 20, from Solihull, have now been charged with possession of a knife in a public place.
They were remanded into custody to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (March 2).
Also on Sunday, officers recovered a lock knife whilst patrolling on Soho Road.
Callum Doyle, aged 27, from Birmingham, was later charged with possession of a knife and was also remanded into custody to appear at the same court today.
A force spokesperson said: "Project Guardian is a specialist taskforce which tackles knife crime and youth violence.
"There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols and positive engagement with young people.
