More arrests 'may follow' in Smethwick mosque murder probe as accused youth appears before judge
More arrests may follow in the murder investigation of Zeshan Afzal who was stabbed and killed in the grounds of a Smethwick mosque, a judge has been told.
Eighteen-year-old Zeshan, of died after suffering serious stab wounds during an incident in the car park at the Jamia Masjid, in Oldbury Road, in Smethwick, just before 9pm as Ramadan prayers were concluding on February 20.
On Friday a 17-year-old, who cannot be named due to being aged under 18, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court charged with his murder.
Prosecution barrister Miss Claire Harris said: "The deceased Zeshan Afzal died on February 2 at Jamia Mosque in Smethwick.
