Road cordoned off and four arrested in Birmingham gun bust

Four people were arrested and a firearm and ammunition were seized after stopping a vehicle in Birmingham.

Firearms officers stopped a vehicle at Berrowside Road in Shard's End shortly before 9pm on Wednesday, February 25.

A man aged 18 and two women, aged 42 and 18 were arrested and taken into custody. Another man, aged 47, was then arrested shortly afterwards at an address on the road.

Police said one man had been arrested.

All four were taken into custody on suspicion of possessing / being concerned in the supply of firearms. They remain in custody as West Midlands Police continue with their enquiries.

A police cordon remained in place on Thursday, February 26.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Our investigations continue and we will have extra officers patrolling the area today to offer reassurance.
