Man, 45, charged with murder after stabbing of 28-year-old in Birmingham

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police were called to Wood Green Road in Winson Green shortly before 9pm on Monday, February 23 alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service, after a man was stabbed in the street.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man was confirmed dead at the scene.

On Thursday, February 26 he was been named as Hozar Ali, aged 28, and his family were made aware.

Following the incident, two men were arrested.

Imran Khan, from Birmingham, has been charged with murder, and possession of a bladed article. The 45-year-old is due before Birmingham Magistrates Court on Friday, February 27 morning.

A second man, aged 39, has been released with no further action.

Investigating officer, Det Insp Matt Marston, said: “Our thoughts remain very much with Hozar’s family at this tragic time.

“Our investigation is moving at pace and this represents a significant development, which they have been kept up to date with.

“As our enquiries continue, I would urge anyone with information or footage to please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
