Three men, aged 20, 22, and 27, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and were taken into custody.
Following further enquiries, including reviewing bodycam and CCTV footage, officers discovered that one of the men had hidden a can underneath the vehicle, and after returning to the location, Sergeant Gareth Johnson, from the Operation Skybridge team, found the drinks can with three gold chains hidden inside.
Detective Superintendent Save Sproson, from Birmingham Police, said: "This was an example of excellent partnership work from the two teams working together to locate offenders, and continue enquiries no matter how long it took.
"Thanks to officers being thorough with searches, we were able to locate and arrest three men for robbery, and even further, locate three gold chains which had been meticulously hidden inside a drinks can."
