Boy, 17, arrested after fatal stabbing outside Smethwick mosque remains in custody

An investigation into the death of a man from stab wounds is ongoing as police continue to question a suspect.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested by West Midlands Police after 18-year-old Zeshan Afzal was discovered with serious stab wounds following disorder on Oldbury Road just before 9pm on February 20 and was pronounced dead a short time later.

The force said that as part of the investigation, the 17-year-old had been arrested and currently remained in custody for questioning.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "As part of our investigation, we have now arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.
