Two arrested after police spot suspected drug exchange in Smethwick

Two men have been arrested after police spotted a suspected drug exchange in Smethwick.

West Midlands Police officers were patrolling around the Grange Road area in Smethwick on Monday, February 23 evening when they spotted the suspicious activity by a silver Audi, which fled the scene quickly.

Failing to stop for police, the vehicle was being driven dangerously through road works and red lights. After being stopped by officers, two men were detained.

Following searches, police recovered mobile phones, cash, cannabis and cocaine.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and driving a vehicle dangerously.

They have both been bailed pending further enquiries.
