Five arrests as police seize drugs and weapons across West Midlands
Officers from a police taskforce specialising in tackling knife crime and youth violence had another busy weekend across the West Midlands.
Officers from the Operation Guardian Taskforce were patrolling around Kings Heath on Friday when they stopped a vehicle and following searches, bags of cannabis were seized along with a baseball bat and a crowbar.
Three men, aged 25, 24 and 21, were arrested, and have since been released.
Yesterday, officers were patrolling around Acocks Green in Birmingham where a man was stopped and searched.
Officers found a large amount of crack cocaine, mobile phones believed to be linked to drug dealing, cash, and a taser.
Further searches were carried out at an address where drug dealing bags, scales and a flick knife were seized.
The 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and possession of an offensive weapon, with the force saying he has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Finally, in Walsall, a man was arrested on Cecil Street after officers stopped a car and following searches, found suspected wraps of Class A drugs.
The 40-year-old was arrested for possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, and has been bailed.

"There is particular emphasis on reducing knife crime, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols and positive engagement with young people.
