Boy, 17, arrested after fatal stabbing outside Smethwick mosque

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after a teenager was fatally stabbed in Smethwick on Friday evening.

Zeshan Afzal, aged 18 was discovered with serious stab wounds following disorder on Oldbury Road just before 9pm on February 20.

West Midlands Ambulance Service battled to save the 18-year-old, who is reported to have been from Smethwick, but sadly, he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The man remains in custody as police continue their enquiries

A statement from West Midlands Police read: "As part of our investigation, we have now arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.

"Our enquires are continuing and we urge anyone who has not yet spoken to us to come forward.
