Two arrests made and murder investigation begins after death of man in Winson Green in Birmingham
A murder investigation has been launched after a man died from stab injuries on a street in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police have launched the appeal after two men were arrested on suspicion of murder following the incident on Wood Green Road in Winson Green on Monday night.
A man in his 20s was found with stab injuries and died at the scene, with a 39-year-old man and a 45-year-old man arrested and remaining in custody while enquiries continue.
The force confirmed that the area around Wood Green Road had been cordoned off, with forensic teams working at the scene, and has asked for anyone with information to get in touch.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a man in Winson Green.
"We were called to Wood Green Road, shortly before 9pm last night, alongside our colleagues form the ambulance service, after a man was stabbed in the street.
"Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man, in his 20s, sadly died at the scene.
"Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this devastating time.
"A murder investigation has been launched and we’re working to establish the full circumstances.
"We've arrested two men, aged 39 and 45, on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody as we continue with our enquiries.
"Wood Green Road has been cordoned off as well as roads nearby, which may lead to some traffic disruption. Our forensic team is at the scene and detectives are reviewing CCTV and carrying out other enquiries in the area.
