Police still hunting killer of man, 18, stabbed to death outside mosque in Smethwick
The investigation into the murder of an 18-year-old boy outside a mosque in Smethwick is yet to identify any suspects, police have confirmed.
Zeshan Afzal, aged 18, was discovered with serious stab wounds following a disorder that erupted outside of the Jamia Masjid, off Oldbury Road, Smethwick, just before 9pm on Friday, February 20.
West Midlands Ambulance Service battled to save the 18-year-old, who is reported to have been from Smethwick, but sadly, he was pronounced dead a short time later.

On Sunday, February 22, West Midlands Police confirmed that their murder investigation into the killing was continuing, with the force saying that whilst the scene has been closed, detectives are continuing to review CCTV footage and gather information.
A force spokesperson said: "Our investigation into the killing of teenager Zeshan Afzal, in Smethwick, is continuing today.
"The 18-year-old was discovered with serious stab injuries following disorder in Oldbury Road at just before 9pm on Friday (20 February). He was sadly confirmed dead a short time later.
"The scene has now closed but our detectives are continuing to review CCTV, and gather information, as we seek to establish why this happened and who was involved.
"We want to hear from witnesses, or anybody who has mobile phone or dashcam footage, which could assist with our investigation."
When asked for an update on the investigation on Monday, February 23, a spokeswoman from the force said: "Yesterday's statement still stands."
