Appeal launched after teenager sexually assaulted in Birmingham

An appeal has been launched to ask for public help with finding a man police want to speak to following a sexual assault in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on October 2 on Sandwell Road in Birmingham.

The force has released a CCTV image of a man officers want to speak to, and has asked for anyone with any information about the identity of the man to get in touch as soon as possible.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Can you help investigators identify this man? Officers want to speak to him after a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in Sandwell Road, Birmingham.

"She has been offered specialist support as our dedicated officers work to identify the offender following the incident at around 7pm on Thursday, October 2.

"We’ve carried out extensive enquiries with CCTV from the area being recovered and reviewed as well as witnesses spoken with and door-to-door enquiries carried out.

"Now, with the support of the victim we’re issuing footage which we hope will assist our investigation.

"This footage is of a man, in distinctive pale grey clothes and cap, who investigators would like to speak to and are asking for your help to establish who he is.
