Man due in court on theft charge after hundreds of pounds of whisky stolen from Penkridge shop

A man will appear in court to answer a charge of theft after hundreds of pounds-worth of whisky was stolen from a shop.

Staffordshire Police said Martin Brown was arrested following reports of £350-worth of whisky being stolen from a Co-op store in Penkridge on January 29.

The 39-year-old, of Parkfields in Wolverhampton, was charged with one count of theft and will appear at Cannock Magistrates Court on February 27.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "A man is due in court charged with shoplifting offences relating to thefts of alcohol from a store in Penkridge.

"Martin Derek Brown, 39, of Parkfields, Wolverhampton, has been charged with one count of theft after multiple bottles of whisky, worth in the region of £350, were stolen from Co-op on Wolverhampton Road on Thursday, January 29.

"Brown remains on conditional police bail ahead of a hearing due at Cannock Magistrates Court on Friday, February 27."
