Man arrested on suspicion of burglary after Rowley Regis property broken into
A man was arrested as police officers in Sandwell were alerted to a house being broken into.
Officers from West Midlands Police were called to reports of the burglary on Birmingham Road in Rowley Regis on Saturday afternoon, with a 42-year-old man later arrested following CCTV enquiries.
The force said the man remains in custody for questioning and offered advice to warn people about a rise in burglary during the darker nights.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A man has been arrested as we continue to tackle burglary in Sandwell.
"On Saturday, an address on Birmingham Road in Rowley Regis was broken into between 1.45pm and 5.15pm.
"Items from inside the house were stolen.
"Following CCTV enquiries, we arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of burglary.
"He remains in custody for questioning.
"In the darker nights, we often see a rise in reports of burglars entering homes through unlocked back doors, garages, and first-floor windows easily accessed by low garden fences or wheelie bins.
"In January, we made nearly 350 arrests for offences such as burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and theft from motor vehicle.
