Two teenagers charged after firearm and zombie knife seized in Birmingham

Two teenagers were arrested after police officers discovered a firearm and a zombie knife during a search.

The Operation Guardian officers from West Midlands Police arrested Tyrell Keagan and a 17-year-old in Kings Heath on Wednesday after finding the weapons, with a later search also uncovering a baton, a BB gun, a catapult and a baseball bat.

Keagan was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and possession of cannabis and appeared at Birmingham Magistrates court on Friday, while The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with possession of a bladed article and possession of cannabis and will appear at court on March 3.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Two people have been charged after our Guardian Taskforce seized a firearm and a zombie knife.

"Officers from the Guardian team were patrolling around Kings Heath on Wednesday, where they detained a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old.

"Following searches, officers found a zombie knife and a firearm which was found to be live and viable.

"Following further searches at addresses, officers also recovered a baton, a BB gun, a catapult and a baseball bat.

"Tyrell Keagan, 18, was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and possession of cannabis.

"He appeared before Birmingham Magistrates court today, where he was remanded in custody.

"The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with possession of a bladed article and possession of cannabis.

"He will be appearing at court on March 3."
