Woman, 35, arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred in Birmingham ahead of 'Anti-Zionist Movement' event
A woman has been arrested in Birmingham on suspicion of inciting racial hatred ahead of an 'Anti-Zionist Movement' event
The woman, aged 35, was held in the Kings Heath area of Birmingham at around 2.30pm on Sunday, February 8.
West Midlands Police officers said they acted on information that the suspect, from London, was due to attend a launch event for the ‘Anti-Zionist Movement’. They stopped a car she was travelling in and detained her.
She was wanted by the Metropolitan Police on suspicion of a Public Order Act offence, as part of an investigation into speeches and social media posts made between May and October last year in London and Birmingham.
West Midlands Police say their officers continue to work to understand the plans of the organisers of today’s event, which has been advertised as taking place in the Moseley area of Birmingham.
A WMP spokesperson added: "We have a policing operation in place and continue to liaise with key stakeholders, including members of the local Jewish community."
