Police find drugs at Moor Street Train Station in Birmingham - man charged
A man has been charged with drug and weapon offences after being arrested as he boarded a train at Moor Street Train Station in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police said officers from Operation Fearless had stopped Chee Wai Chong at Moor Street station on Thursday and found a large amount of methamphetamine, with a later search of an address in Rowley Regis uncovering a baton and cannabis.
The 46-year-old was arrested and subsequently charged with methamphetamine and cannabis possession with intent to supply and possession of a baton.
The force said Chong, of Hackett Road in Rowley Regis, had appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on March 2.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We’ve charged a man with drugs and weapons offences after Operation Fearless officers stopped him as he boarded a train in Birmingham.
"Chee Wai Chong, aged 46, was detained at Moor Street station on Thursday and a large amount of methamphetamine was recovered.
"We worked with the Sandwell Police priority crime team and Serious Organised Crime & Exploitation (SOCEX) team and carried out further searches at an address in Rowley Regis, where more methamphetamine was discovered, along with cannabis and a baton.
"Chong has now been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to supply, possession of cannabis with intent to supply, and possession of a baton in a private place.
"He appeared before Birmingham magistrates on Saturday, and was remanded in custody to appear before the city’s crown court on March 2."
