Ivan Jennings, 46, from Stafford, is charged with encouraging terrorism in online chat between August 15 and November 14, 2024.

He appeared at the Old Bailey on Friday (January 30) for a hearing to set a timetable for his case.

Outlining a brief summary of the case, prosecutor Lee Ingham said Jennings was alleged to be a member of a number of extreme right-wing social media chat groups, including on Telegram.

In the chat, he allegedly encouraged others to emulate Christchurch terrorist Brenton Tarrant and discussed molotov cocktails and “killing migrants when they arrive on their boats”, Mr Ingham said.

Jennings faces a further charge of dissemination of terrorism publications, a terrorist manifesto by Anders Breivik, The Anarchists Cookbook and The White Resistance Manual on September 21, 2024.

He is also accused of possessing a document for terrorist purposes relating to The Great Replacement by Brenton Tarrant on November 14, 2024.

Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb said the case would be heard at Leicester Crown Court.

A plea hearing was set for April 24 with a provisional two-week trial from January 4, 2027.

The defendant, who spoke only to confirm his identity in court, remains on bail.
