A man who showed himself burgling West Midlands homes and driving stolen cars in boasting videos has been jailed.

Liam Moore, 20, recorded himself during a three-month crime spree where he stole more than £300,000 worth of cars and goods. Between August 13 and October 7 2023 he broke into dozens of homes and cars across Birmingham and Solihull.

Moore posted videos of his crimes on Snapchat, which became key evidence and helped police lock him up. Following his arrest, Moore’s phone was seized and analysed with his own phone records linking him to 13 burglaries and 14 car thefts.

Moore would often record himself burning and snapping locks and would also take photos of the cars he had stolen. Detectives found videos that Moore had uploaded to Snapchat, including one that showed him melting a door lock. Moore’s search history on his phone showed that he would look up the cars he was targeting.

Moore pleaded guilty on the second day of his trial at Birmingham Crown Court last Wednesday (January 21) and was jailed for nine years.

Detective Sergeant Charlie Edwards, of West Midlands Police, said: “I’m so glad Moore has finally been served the justice he deserves for what he has done.

“Moore was that confident he wouldn’t get caught. He would film himself breaking into people’s homes and take photos of the cars he was stealing. Moore would also refer to the crimes he was committing as ‘grafting’ which is such an insult to the hard-working people he was stealing from.

“We worked really hard to ensure he was held accountable for his actions and I’m glad that he will now spend the next few years in prison.”
