Dragomir Bonculescu was sentenced to two years and one month behind bars at Stafford Crown Court on January 19 after he admitted drugs offences.

In August last year, the 22-year-old, of Handsworth in Birmingham, was stopped in Chadsmoor by officers from the Staffordshire Police major and organised crime team.

The force said he was spotted getting out of the driver’s seat of a car, which he was not insured to drive. He also did not have a valid driver's licence.

When officers looked inside, they found an estimated £1,120 worth of cocaine that had been sorted into deal bags and placed under an ashtray, while cash and mobile phones were also found and seized.

When Bonculescu was interviewed in custody, he answered 'no comment', but Staffordshire Police was able to gather evidence and charge him. He later admitted possession with intent to supply cocaine, possessing criminal property, driving a vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and using a vehicle without third party insurance.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Officers are working hard across Staffordshire to target those involved in organised criminality in local communities.

"Crimes like drug dealing often involve the exploitation of vulnerable people, who are coerced into selling the drugs on behalf of career criminals for profit.
