Man convicted after knife attack in Birmingham left victim with life-threatening injuries
A man has been convicted over a knife attack in Handsworth last year, which left a man with serious injuries.
West Midlands Police were called to Gibson Road in the early hours of July 26, after ambulance colleagues reported a man in his 20s had been stabbed.
He was taken to hospital with injuries so serious they were initially deemed life-threatening.

The force's Major Crime Unit (MCU) began immediate enquiries, speaking to witnesses and residents in the area, and reviewing CCTV in a bid to track down the person responsible.
Enquiries led detectives to identify Mohamed Mahamad as a suspect, and he was arrested less than 24 hours after the attack took place.
Officers were able to establish that the incident, which started as an attempted robbery - trying to take a phone and bag, quickly escalated as Mahamad punched, kicked, and stabbed the man.
After the attack, he calmly walked away empty handed, leaving his victim seriously injured in the street.
Following a thorough investigation, Mahamad, aged 37 of Browns Green, Birmingham, was charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery, and possession of a knife. He admitted two offences, but denied attempted murder.
However, following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court, he was found guilty on Friday (23 January) of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily and will be sentenced at a later date.
Detective Sergeant Jeanette Roberts, from MCU, said: “Throughout the investigation, our thoughts have remained with the man who was hurt – as he continues to recover from his very serious injuries.
“There is no doubt that due to the callous and sustained attack at the hands of Mahamad, he could well have lost his life.
“He was assisted by brave witnesses who intervened and offered help prior to the ambulance service arriving.
“Our team worked hard and at pace to identify the attacker and get him before the courts, and he is rightfully facing a long prison sentence for what he did.
“We remain completely committed to reducing knife crime and bringing offenders like him to justice.”
