Thirty-six-year-old Wayne Bradley was sentenced for admitting two counts each for theft, burglary and fraud at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

The case relates to reports that items were stolen from Austen Rose Care home in Alvechurch Road, in Northfield, and from a public house also in the Birmingham area in October last year.

Sentencing Bradley,  a former boxer, District Judge Adrian Lower sitting as a recorder said: "The picture painted is that you have a tendency of going into places where you have no business and stealing."

"On October 15 you went to a care home and tricked your  way in and gained access to the unattended accommodation during their lunchtime. The residents were vulnerable and they and their relatives spoke of how upsetting it was to find  property including jewellery of sentimental value was missing."
