Teenager arrested and charged over fight in Wolverhampton city centre
A teenager was arrested and charged with affray and threats with a blade after an incident in Wolverhampton.
West Midlands Police confirmed it had arrested and charged a 17-year-old on Tuesday following the incident, which happened on Sunday in the Victoria Square area of the city.
The teenager was due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday. No details are yet available for their appearance.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We've arrested and charged a teenager following reports of a fight involving a knife in Wolverhampton city centre at the weekend.
"Officers detained a 17-year-old yesterday as part of investigations into the incident in the Victoria Square area of the city centre on Sunday afternoon.
"The teenager has been charged with affray and threats with a blade and is due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today.
"Tackling issues around violent crime and carrying weapons is a priority across Wolverhampton and we are working hard to identify anyone involved as part of Operation Redfox.
"We continue to work to make our city and town centres safer as part of the national #SaferStreetsWinter initiative."
