Marcus Henry, aged 34, stole hundreds of pounds of items from two supermarkets in Rowley Regis between December 26 and January 6.

Henry also breached a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) which was issued in May banning him from entering one of the supermarkets.

Thanks to good quality CCTV, police were able to get clear images of Henry committing the offences.

Officers arrested him from his home address, and he was subsequently charged with six counts of theft from shops and breaching a criminal behaviour order.

Henry, of Spiral Close, Halesowen, appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court and was sentenced to 36 weeks in prison.

Sergeant Jason Walters, from South Sandwell Retail Team said: “We understand the significant impact this crime has on local businesses, staff and the wider community and recognise the harm it causes, not only financially, but also in terms of safety and confidence.

“This behaviour will not be tolerated, and we will continue to prosecute offenders and utilise the powers available to us in relation to civil and criminal orders.

“Please continue to report any suspicious activity to us so we can take action.

"You can do this by calling 101 or via LiveChat on our website. Always call 999 in an emergency."

Sandwell has a dedicated retail crime team that focuses on bringing prolific offenders to justice. The team works closely with store security, retailers and partner agencies to keep the community safe.
