Man arrested in connection with robbery on Wolverhampton street
A man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and theft following two separate incidents in Wolverhampton.
West Midlands Police confirmed that a 36-year-old man had been arrested in the city centre in connection with a robbery on December 2 where a man was forced to hand over money to a man in possession of a knife and a man's watch being stolen on December 29.
The force confirmed the man had remained in custody overnight after being arrested on Monday afternoon.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A man has spent the night in police custody after being arrested in the city centre yesterday as part of enquiries into a robbery.
"We have been investigating an incident which happened on December 2 in All Saints, where a man in his 40s was forced to hand over money by a man in possession of a knife.
"As part of enquiries, a suspect was identified and arrested by city centre neighbourhood officers in Queen Square on Monday afternoon.
"The 36-year-old was arrested on suspicion of robbery and theft, which relates to a second incident where a man's watch was stolen on December 29.
"The arrest forms part of our ongoing work to reduce city centre crime, as part of Safer Streets Winter."
